Mtg Can Voja Be Summoned Again
Behemothic Boo!
Hello happy readers! I hope that you are having the best day ever! And if non even so, then perhaps past the end of the day! And I'd settle for top 13! Welcome to my Commander deck around my 2d selection from the very long named set of D&D: Adventures in the Forgotten Realms. I volition build around a few more than over the adjacent few weeks every bit well!
Who have I already built around?
- Volo, Guide to Monsters - (Volo'due south Guide to Commanding Monsters | Commodity by Abe Sargent (coolstuffinc.com)) Firstly, I grabbed and built a Simic deck around this unique Homo and Wizard. Every brute in the deck has a unique creature blazon and I built it effectually my token Shapeshifter - Riptide Shapshifter who you lot tin can cede for the perfect beast in this creature-based build. I hope you lot savour it!
Who am I building around this week? Great question! Let's look!
Information technology's this Naya leader! Iii colors! All fun! As you tin can see, my leader is...Minsc! He's a Ranger who debuted in a video game called Baldur's Gate, equally well equally the sequel Baldur'due south Gate II as a companion that you can recruit, along with a lawful good female person mage called Dynaheir. He has a pet hamster named "Boo" who he calls a miniature Behemothic Space Hamster, which is a monster from the Spelljammer campaign setting. Yous get Boo when Minsc arrives to the battlefield, which is 4 power and toughness for three mana - pretty expert for a Commander. Then yous can invest Ten mana and make Boo (or someone else) a Behemothic X/X until the end of the turn and blast away. Note that y'all can target Minsc to help with a Commander impale. Too note that you cannot employ this when y'all are attacked to smash cake and aggressor every bit it's but sorcery speed.
How do I come across myself building Minsc?
- Ramp - Y'all need a lot of mana for the X to really affair and make sense. We need to maximize that Ten in order to really get in sing! Luckily, we are in the colour of ramping with Green and the 2d color of ramping in White.
- Buddies - When I read Minsc for the first fourth dimension, would yous desire to know what bill of fare I thought most? Tolsimir Wolfblood! Why? He taps to make a ii/2 legendary Wolf named Voja! And he's in my colors also! We could exercise a number of creatures and planeswalkers that take buddies running effectually and bring those to the battlefield! Boo is not the only Buddy out at that place in Naya colors!
- Combat Damage Triggers - 1 great way that strikes me to maximize Minsc is to have a creature that has a combat damage trigger with an effect for each harm dealt, like Common cold-Eyed Selkie, but those aren't many and they tend to exist running around in Bluish. I don't know if there are an in Naya that would work.
- Unblockable - Since Minsc is a mana hungry Commander Kill if unblocked and since he has no natural evasion, I'll add together a few cards here and there that volition make something unblockable. I'll also look to adding in creature with bruise for Minsc to really push forward. And maybe some trample would make sense for Boo.
- Creatures - Since Minsc wants to make a creature actually big, it makes sense to go broad with the bodies then nosotros tin have more than options running around.
- Support - Card draw, removal, downtime, and animate being protection all fall into this category.
My decklist should look pretty dissimilar than the EDHREC.com one.
Allow'due south offset with #2 and really push that theme!
| | |
Let'south look at the two Tolsimirs and their Vojas! The offset Tolsimir taps to make a two/2 Voja legendary dork creature and then pumps the Green and White dork twice to brand it a 4/4, while likewise pumping your team too. Minsc is a 5/5 with the Wolfblooded one out simply Boo is Blood-red, so no pumping there. Tolsimir Take Two doesn't need to tap to brand a Voja, he brings the Wolf to the party. This time Voja, Friend to Elves is a iii/3 and that's 6 power and toughness across two bodies for 5 mana, making him a more powerful beater. You do miss out the Glorious Anthem effect, though. As Voja, Friend to Elves arrives to the party, you gain three life, and it can fight if you want information technology to. Practiced stuff, right?
I wish Conduct'southward Companion were in my colors! But it's just ii out of iii.
| | |
The next place I thought of was Ashaya, made by Nissa in her Sage Animist flip form! Ashaya, Take 2 was printed as a dissimilar card from Nissa in Zendikar Ascent. As y'all can run into, Ashaya is a five mana X/X where 10 is your land count, then probable at least a 5/v when you drop it, and Ashaya scales nicely as the game goes long. Note that your non-tokens, including Ashaya, are now Forests, so in a deck going wide as much as this one is, you can drop the Elemental then actually tap a lot of your dorks for a massive amount of mana as well every bit pumping up Ashaya massively. Look at Nissa, Flip Version. You can drib her for three mana and fetch out a basic Woods to your hand. Then you tin can flip her to the Sage Animist form if yous driblet a land and you have at least 7 under your control. And so y'all get a solid planeswalker for your trouble. If you lot have enough lands to flip her when yous drop her just play the country you fetched. You go a +1 that will ramp lands on the pinnacle of your library or draw them otherwise, so that's keen carte period and ramping. Her -2 will brand an Ashaya, the Awoken Globe who is a 4/four Green Elemental. Good stuff!
| | |
Permit's not forget Kari Zev and her Ragavan! She is a 1/3 first strike menace for simply two mana and when she swings, she makes a two/1 Ragavan Ruby-red Monkey that is also attacking for the combat and will exile afterwards. That gives you three damage, one of which is offset strike and menace, for 2 mana. Dear her! And her pet Monkey Pirate Ragavan is tearing up Modern after getting printed in Modern Horizons 2. Ragavan is a groovy i-drop with a two/1 trunk who makes a Treasure for ramping as yous punch someone, and you can exile the top carte of their library and bandage it with the Treasure mana if it's not in Minsc's three colors. He can also be dashed for
to requite him haste and remove him from the battlefield to stay clear of sorcery speed removal like mass sweepers such as Damnation and Wrath of God.
| | |
Don't sleep on Mowu! You can drop this Loyal Companion for just 4 mana, and you net a trampling and vigilance machine. With bruise, yous can pump up Mowu into a huge version of himself (which he becomes in the story and so information technology'due south flavorful) and can trample over foes and stay dorsum for blocking. This is not a +1/+1 counter brew, so you can ordinarily ignore that final power here. Jiang Yanggu can be brought out for v mana with iv loyalty and tin can +ane loyalty to +2/+2 something for a plow. You tin can practice this to add to the power of your Behemothic Boo for a turn to hit with two more damage. But Yanggu is hither to -ane and make a legendary 3/3 Mowu token of the Green Hound persuasion. His -5 is like shooting fish in a barrel to do if you +1 him early and you can pump upwards a Boo or some other Behemothic X/X by adding X/X where Ten is your country count... and trample! Nasty correct! Note that if you Giant Minsc, and and so ultimate with Jiang, you could accept enough to impale in one Commander hit for 21 damage out of nowhere. Don't sleep on Jiang Yanggu.

Check out this pair! Mila is a keen companion for Lukka, right? She'll drop for three mana and as a 2/3 and then you can get a shield that adds loyalty counters to your planeswalkers every bit they swing at them to help go on them live. As your permanents are targeted by foes, you become to describe cards which is... a lot of cards in a multiplayer Commander game! Then you can bandage Wayward Bonder which is a six mana 5 loyalty Lukka who can discard cards for +1 to depict and if you discarded a dork, you describe two! Great card flow here. And and so I added the original Lukka to the conversation, who is a nasty v-mana five loyalty 'walker with that awesome -two which you can exercise twice to Polymorph a creature you control, but you only become something with a bigger casting cost. Note that you exile the dork in question, but it's awesome for your tokens like Boo or Voja that y'all can get back. Y'all can also +one him to add to your carte menses of dorks from the summit of your library only he's actually hither for his -two. And he's on theme with Mila!
| | |
Lukka is not the but planeswalker with a Companion! Check out Garruk and his Beast. The Animal is a 3/two for two mana and... it has trample for Minsc! This fun fanged foe will love to go all Giant-ed. The Fundamental Hunter is awesome hither as a five-driblet with 3 loyalty. He can +1 to brand 3/3 Beasts which yous can feed to Lukka, Coppercoat Outcast and add to your battlefield. Y'all can -3 him to depict a ton of cards off a Giant Boo without requiring any mana if Garruk were already in play. Good tag squad!

You know who else has buddies? Do siblings count? If then...cheque out this pair! The first was printed way back in Legends and on inflow to the battlefield he brings a Stangg Twin token, and both are 3/4s for six mana, so vi/eight total across them. These twins are literally tied together, because if Stangg or his Twin leave the battlefield, so does the other i and then you lot want to protect them. At present check out the second one. Verix is a overnice legendary 4/4 flyer for four mana. You can kick the Dragon for three mana and then go a Karox Bladewing which is a 4/4 flyer with 8/eight flying beyond 7 mana and two bodies. Skilful stuff either manner and we don't have that much flight hither. Flying is good for Minsc's Giant making ability and either Bladewing here will work.
Hmm... Do I want to shift to a legendary matters deck? Cheque out The Circle of Loyalty. I cannot drop its cost, as I am not running a bunch of Knights, but I don't need to. Our Buddies similar Boo and Mowu are loyal to their leader, and thus this is a season hit. This pumps the squad by +1/+1 and that'south great here in a deck going broad with 34 creatures and tokens, but I actually like that legendary spell into a 2/two White Knight token. I besides similar borer for four mana for another 2/2 White Knight as well. You lot can block attacks on your planeswalkers, get pumped into a three/3 with Tolsimir Wolfblood on the battleground, go Giant'ed past Minsc, and loads more! I love this carte and its flavor here a lot!
Now I really love Toralf hither! Four mana for a 5/four trampler is keen, and that's one reason why he'due south hither. He's very on curve. As a trampler he'southward also a great Behemothic target from Minsc. Don't slumber on his Hammer either! Two mana and two to equip is cheap and you get a few abilities. If the equipped dork is legendary, similar Boo, you get a strong +3/+0 out of it. Near of the Buddies are legendary, either Voja, Ashaya, Mowu, Ragavan, and we tin requite that heave to leaders equally well like Stangg or Kari Zev. You tin un-attach the Hammer and throw it at someone for three damage to kill off a fundamental dork or planeswalker that needs to die. But the Hammer bounces to your hand and you lot'll need four more mana to drop it and equip it once again. Boo is worthy!
At present that nosotros are moving into a legendary direction I tossed in this triumvirate. Captain Sisay was the first carte I tossed in with her ability to tap and Tutor for a legendary card, which are pretty dense in this build. I also tossed in Search for Celebrity, which is hither to grab whatever legendary card (I converted my basics to Snow-Covered in order to proceeds life from casting this sorcery). Check out Reki! Equally you cast legendary stuff you describe those cards. And Reki's card depict volition work on non-creatures.
Cheque out Kolvori. As long as you control three or more legendary dorks, including Kolvori, she becomes a 6/six for four mana, and that'due south pretty practiced. Yous only need Minsc and Boo. You can tap her and ii mana and dig six down to take hold of a legendary dork and put it into you hand. You can play Kolvori equally The Ringheart Crest which taps for Dark-green mana and that can be used for legendary stuff similar Minsc or you can cast a tribe in your manus. I don't know why y'all would though. I prefer the God of Kinship version here.
While I was building around legendary Monkeys and legendary Hamsters, I realized something pretty great. Wouldn't a legendary Squirrel make sense here? Enter Toski! Toski cannot be countered and cannot be destroyed with its indestructible. It has to swing each turn which is fine equally information technology won't dice. As your stuff deals combat damage to foes y'all'll net a card, which is great to go along cards flowing. Since nosotros have unblockable cards similar Rogue's Passage, Access Tunnel, and Whispersilk Cloak for a Giant Boo, we could also cyberspace some pretty cards besides.
This is the just mana ramp spell we'll exist looking at. Cheque it out! This is existence run for the first X spell equally y'all tin go 10 lands. Not X nuts, any land! Command Belfry? Check. Mana Confluence? Cheque. Stomping Footing? Check. You've got this! You can also sweep flyers and we simply take a few so feel free to do so if your lands are good to go.

I wanted some more carte drawing so I tossed in this pair as well every bit Harmonize. The former card will draw cards equal to the damage that a target creature deals in combat this plough. I couldn't discover a brute with the ability do I went with spells. Make a Giant Boo and save yourself some mana and if they don't block you could draw some serious cards. Information technology'southward dandy in here! I love the latter carte likewise. It pumps the target upward by +3/+3... and gives information technology trample...Boo likes! When this big trampling monstrosity deals combat impairment to a role player this turn, you'll draw cards equal to said damage. Nasty!
I still have some slots available, allow's add in a few more partners.
| | |
Check out Vivien and her Grizzly. I beloved the Grizzly here as you can add to your card flow with its activated ability. Was the top carte of your library either a dork or a planeswalker? Groovy! Now draw it. If non, you can put information technology on the bottom of your library and try over again! Information technology's very strong here. In that location were a bunch of good Viviens that I could take added to this brew that would take fit, merely I actually like the Arkbow Ranger. Why? That +1! You can toss a +ane/+1 on ii dorks or 2 on one dork and give said dork(s) trample for the plow. She's a mana-free way to provide size that sticks and trample to Boo or another Buddy.
| | |
Let'south at present turn to Huatli and her Raptor. The Warrior Poet is a perfect card for this brew! Showtime of all, she can +2 to gain life equal to the highest power among your stuff. A Giant Boo? You could have a bunch of life gain likewise! One activation for 7 or 8 life from a Minsc Giant effect can get you 5 loyalty, which is pretty good for the lady. So you can 0 her to make a 3/3 Dinosaur, Light-green, trampler to block or swing. Did you notice the bruise? Another great synergy for Giant-ing. The Raptor provides a nice body for two mana with vigilance and then you can grow it, swing, and then keep information technology back for blocking. The proliferate volition virtually never matter relieve for the occasional loyalty counter. I just have two ways to give +1/+1 counters in the deck - Vivien, Arkbow Ranger and an enchantment nosotros'll see after.
Check out Arlinn and her flip side. On dropping this 3 loyalty 4-drop, you have two options. The first is to +one and haste, vigilance, and +2/+ii a targeted dork, similar a Giant Boo. Pretty good. That's non why she's hither. Arlinn is here for that 0 ability to brand a 2/2 Green Wolf and then flip. Note that if you lot control Arlinn and Tolsimir, Friend to Wolves then your Wolf token will trigger his power and you'll gain 3 more than life and said Wolf can fight. Then yous transform Arlinn and you have a 3 loyalty 'walker with a 2/2 that can block to keep her live. What yous seek is that +1 on the Embraced by the Moon side. Every bit you can see, she'll be an Canticle for your team and give them all...trample! She's bully! You can also -1 her to shoot something for iii damage only that flips her back and you may miss that trampling. She's fun hither!
In improver to Minsc, this set besides introduces Bard Course. Any reduction in cost is pretty cracking. This is our alone enchantment. At level 1 your legendary stuff arrives to the battlefield with a +one/+ane counter on them. That means that Minsc and Boo will enter the battlefield with a commonage +2/+2 making them great! You lot can drop this every bit soon as the 2nd turn. You'll want that Level 2 every bit presently as possible (3rd turn?) to driblet the casting cost of your legendary stuff by
.
Imagine this opening:
- Turn one - Play tapped land similar Stomping Ground or merely a Snow-Covered Forest or Snowfall-Covered Mount
- Plough two - Play land that can tap for
or
, similar Control Tower or Metropolis of Brass, and drop Bard Grade - Plough iii - Drop land that tin can tap for
. Spend
and activate Bard Class leveling up to level 2. Minsc is now simply
. Drop Minsc and net a Boo, who are now iv/4 and two/2 respectively.
It'south and then synergetic hither! And so when you have the five mana you tin can turn it into impulsive exiling card flow. Note that this works with any legendary spell, not merely creatures, so your planeswalkers are reduced in toll besides as Kamahl'due south Druidic Vow. Usually I don't like to run simply i or 2 cards of a unmarried type as then all removal of that type volition come your way. Non playing whatsoever cards of that type volition turn opposing removal into blanks. For example, a creatureless deck will turn your foes' Swords to Plowshares and Murder and Control Magic into bill of fare disadvantage blanks that cannot practise anything. But hither, Bard Class is so practiced with Minsc that I have to run information technology!
Now let'due south turn to some lands!
| | |
Check out his duo! Sunhome can requite a Giant Boo double strike to get a 2d swing in. Its great here as a way to dial yourself into the winning spot. But it's mana pricey, and so you only desire to use it if it helps out, although it tin let you lot win combats with first strike function of the ability that yous would otherwise lose. Too check out the Wolf Run! I love information technology here as a backup way to plow a beast into a giant stomper. Don't control Minsc due to deaths and Commander Taxation? No problems! Employ this to massively pump up a dork into a game winner and give it bruise to punch through. You tin too but
and tap to give a Giant Boo bruise, so it'south pretty useful hither!
Cheque out the Enclave. Do you control a dork with a power of 4 or more? Easy in this build, correct? Then tap this state and some mana and draw that carte! It'south skilful stuff! I besides tossed in a bunch of legendary lands like both Yavimayas and Kor Haven that I can search up with my legendary tutors.
Let's await at ane more card and and so we'll call it.
This is another mode to get yourself a legendary buddy, this time on a five-mana instant. You lot turn a land into a 9/ix with haste that is...still a land and is a legendary Vitu-Ghazi! I love the flavor here. I also dear dropping this when someone swings my way and then block and impale with a giant 9/9 and then swing with my newly fabricated 9/9 on my turn on a now open board. The haste let's you swing out of nowhere even on a land that dropped that turn. Pretty skilful season here, correct? I thought so as well! This was made by Nissa later on all!
All correct let's call information technology! The vast majority of the cards in the below listing are not on the EDHREC.com page as we went in very different directions with this build.
